Congratulations on your passing out.

Here to guide you and others posted to OBIO AKPOR on what to do as a new corps member. There are other Nysc communities that we assist with Updates too. We do not work directly under the LGI, but we are assisting you based on our experience so far.

 Back to the matter 

It was a crazy 21 days I believe, your body will need rest to recover. Please Rest!

I want to believe you must have learnt one or two things to keep you going for the next 11 months.

Honestly mine started like yesterday, in a blink of an eye, it's almost over, but I saw shege banza, Now that's what I don't want you to go through, that's why we are here for you. If you have any challenges, reach out to any of the admin, you will be guided accordingly.

I will be talking about You going to your PPA

• Acceptance and Rejection of your PPA

• Ghosting 

• Safety

• Accommodation 

• Welfare.

Like I said today, you don't need to rush to be at your PPA, you can go there next week if you like, you must show up at the PPA before the end of next week, and for those who are proactive, you can go there tomorrow morning if you like.

You must be either accepted or rejected before you go to the LGI for documentation.

If you go early and they accept you, you are likely to resume immediately or the next day.

If you are accepted, make 3-4 photocopies of your stamped PPA letter without detaching it, give one to the school/firm to keep.

If you have been accepted, you don't have to rush to document, there will always be a crowd there, I'm giving this information ahead of time, only those who are not on this platform will be struggling with the crowd, you can keep your document, after a week or two, you can just casually walk to the venue for Documentation to document, the crowd would have reduced. 

Detach the small detachable part of your PPA letter, You will submit it with a photocopy of the complete one, with 2-3 passport of you on crest vest and cap on a red background and a CDS introductory letter, if you were given one in camp (it's optional, only those who were active in camp will posses an Introductory letter)

If you were rejected, just photocopy like 2 , return to the documentation venue to submit it, you will be reposted to another place and in a few days, you will see a new PPA letter on your portal.

If you have been accepted, and you don't want to document yet. You must still resume at your PPA, you can still Thumbprint and do your monthly biometrics even without documentation, but don't let it go beyond 3 weeks for you to document, if you want to document early, it's still your choice.

It is important to know that no Corpers has the right to tell their employers to accept or reject them. If you don't like your PPA, politely give your employer VALID reasons why they shouldn't employ you. You can reach out to the admin for the second alternative.

They may accept your offer, they may decline. If they decline, it means you must resume there,  if they accept you, Congratulations!

YOUR UNIFORM

👉Kindly note that you are to wear your Uniform to your PPA to submit your PPA letter. You can go to your PPA with Your Khaki and Plain White top, your boot or white shoe.

👉You only wear Crested Vest on important occasions, or when you are required to wear it. 

👉You don't just wear Crested Vest for Thumbprinting days and Biometric, if you need it for a passport, put it in your bag.

👉Your Khaki and plain white top and white shoe or boot is enough and should be your friend if you are to visit any NYSC office whether for complaints, Biometrics or CDS.

WHERE IS THE VENUE FOR DOCUMENTATION ? 

✍️ Rumuodumaya Community Secondary School (ADP) if you get to Rumuokoro , the Park closed to the market is where you board bus going to the venue. They will stop you in front of the school street, so ask questions or you will see other Corpers going there. Before now Documentation and some CDS activities use to be at the Local Government Council, but that place is locked for some security reasons, and CDS activities has been suspended for a while and has now resumed. We await to hear the news that the council is now open and that CDS activities has resumed there.

ACCOMODATION

Your PPA may not offer you accommodation, but they are expected to pay you  well. Only most Govt firms pay little or nothing, but they are not PPA that will stress you, and they may offer you accommodation.

Just be ready to Rent or share an apartment with another corper. If you reject a place because there is no accommodation, there's no guarantee that the next place will have it, so be wise about your decision.

Pls don't make the mistake I made. 

Getting an apartment when you have not secured your acceptance at your PPA. Be accepted before you rent a house, that's if your PPA doesn't provide accommodation or you like your private space.

If your PPA accommodation is not befitting, inform your LGI or Zonal inspector, they will call the PPA to order.

If you want to rent or share an apartment, DM, I could link you up with House agents. If you need household items, I could link you up with trusted vendors if you are not sure.

SAFETY 

Your Safety should be your priority. If you must travel, there are protocols, You need to write to that effect to the State Coordinator, only he can approve your movement. 

If you need the Format for Letter of Permission, do well to message any of the admins.

If you have any health challenge, You have NHIS HMO, we have accredited hospitals for you to use, do well to speak up, If the challenge is more than the accredited hospitals power, DM so we can get you a letter requesting a better treatment under the supervision of your family members .

PH is a rough place , you don't want to have issues with the bad boys......Do well to avoid secluded places, late night movements, if you are visiting anyone you haven't met before and it's not an outdoor meeting, let someone know etc. Most importantly, have your ID card handy.
